This is a cover for Lord of the Flies that I created. It shows the mountain in the book, Piggy's broken glasses and the conch. I chose this picture because it really shows the main parts of the story. It shows the mountain where, at the beginning, the signal fire was. Once the boys thought that there was a beast, it turned out that the beast lived at the top of the mountain. The fire was then moved down to the beach. The conch was the most important thing to the boys. It was used as a talking tool. Only the person who has the conch can speak. Jack was against that. When Jack formed his rebel tribe, the conch was of no use. The conch was still the most important thing, but only to Ralph. Piggy's glasses were used to light the fire. They were the only source of fire. When Jack formed his tribe, only one group had a source of fire...
This picture gives us a different perspective of the story in the text. In the text it tells us how these three items are a key part of the story. This picture also shows us the relationship between two of the items: the conch and the broken glasses. The conch was the reason the glasses broke. The breaking of the glasses was caused when Ralph got mad on top of the mountain because no one was following the rules of the conch. Another relationship would be between the broken glasses and the mountain. The glasses were broken on top of the mountain. This picture also helps us visualize what the setting might look like. It shows us a picture of the mountain.
