Picture No. 4
This is a picture of Piggy's broken glasses. I chose this picture because it describes what cruelty may happen when rules are broken. When Ralph, Piggy, Jack and a couple of other boys were on the mountain, Ralph called a meeting. Everything was going well, until the boys started arguing and speaking without the conch. Piggy spoke up and said that the boys were doing a poor job at keeping the fire going. Jack got mad, called him a fatty and slapped him. Piggy's glasses fell to the ground and one lens broke.
This visual shows us a different perspective of the story than the text. The text tell us that the boys used these glasses to light the fire. Later the glasses were broken and the boys had difficulty lighting the fire after that. These glasses were an essential part to survival on the island. Without the glasses the boys had no chance of getting rescued. The glasses were not only helpful to the survival on the island but were also important to Piggy. Piggy would always clear up a problem. Without his glasses it was hard because he couldn't see a single thing.
